So, I finally did it...

Sat Dec 19, 2009, 9:12 PM
I didn't want to, I've been keeping myself from it, but, I finally watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

What a piece of shit.

There were about three moments total that I thought were pretty good, but, the whole movie just seemed to only have the potential to kick so much ass. My main problem wasn't really the script, or the story. It was the way they told it, with breakneck speed, never really giving you a moment to soak it in and understand where the characters were emotionally.

Things just happen. Oh, he's in wars. He's being recruited into the program. Oh, he's now on his first mission. Oh, he's pissed and is suddenly living with a hot school teacher in Canada. Oh, Victor and Stryker are back.....you get the idea. It's just one event after another without any real build up.
Forget my hate with how they handled Deadpool, which could have just been an unamed character really and it would've saved Deadpool from being subjected to that horrendous final battle.

The leaps in logic are outstanding. My biggest problem? How the fuck did he get that jacket back after destroying part of that island??? HOW??? HOWWWWWW??

Okay, let's back up. I mean, I knew it was bad, but, MAN, that was a stinker.

I would have loved to see a bit more of an indoctrination into the Weapon X program. Kinda like when Meyers in Hellboy goes through all the cool stuff and you get a bit of expostition through that character. Wolverine could've been us, taking in the wonders and mystery of the program.
Maybe after he leaves there's montages of Logan fighting for money and meeting Silver Fox, or whatever her name is, and seeing those bits of him discovering his humanity through a caring woman. Then the punch twist at the end would have been more substantial.

I could go on and on, and I won't. They said they're making a sequel to take place when Logan is in Japan. Meh.

One last thing...they didn't even explain where the name LOGAN came from, but, everyone seemed to call him that, even upon first meetings.

What a waste. I seriously want to write my own Wolverine movie!!

Oh dude, just a followup to our conversation...
...for 'american' comics, two recommendations...
Desolation Jones & Global Frequency. G.F. there are two trades, both good, I dig the second most.

Just thought I'd hit you while the thought popped to mind.
